Introducing 10 Men Australia Issue 25: MUSIC, TALENT, CREATIVE.

EDITOR'S LETTER

This is one of the most fulfilling issues of 10 Men Australia that we’ve put together. Who’s in, who’s out, who made the cut. I think, in the end, what unites the artists, musicians and others featured is that they are all seeking to create something long-lasting and provocative, while evolving along the way. Our cover stars Jamie xx, Nick Ward and the breakthrough Australian band Radio Free Alice are all curious in their aims to make work with emotional and powerful connections. Music is such a touchpoint for different moods and moments, and a living, breathing archive of society and eras.

My musical journey began with Kate Bush and moved swiftly into punk, the sense of rebellion resonating always. Since then I’ve shifted through Philip Glass, The National, Fontaines D.C. and back to The Stranglers. Music is an inspiration to us at the hardest of times and in the best of times. It is such a spur to success.

Of course, no music issue could happen without Roxy Lola, 10’s music editor, who did the heavy lifting, speaking to so many agents, producers and musicians, fuelled by her lifelong passion for music. Her first live concert, at the age of five, was Kylie Minogue… Her edit of the musicians to watch right now include some incredible bands and solo artists from all over Australia. Other exciting musicians we spoke to include Max Richter, Denzel Curry, Mark Ronson and Lennon Gallagher. Yes, we chased the music and the issue is full of personal journeys and a sense of wonder.
