BEHIND KENDRICK LAMAR'S TIFFANY CROWN
King Kendrick. The artist reigned over Glastonbury festival wearing a custom Crown of Thorns by Tiffany & Co. Kendrick Lamar and pgLang co-founder Dave Free commissioned Tiffany to create a titanium and pavé diamond crown. With over 8000 diamonds of over 137 carats, the crown was inspired by Jean Schlumberger's iconic Thorns brooche that the designer created in 1947, currently on display at the House's Vision & Virtuosity exhibition in London. Kendrick's crown took 10 months and over 1300 hours to make, as four of Tiffany's artisans in Northern Italy brought the 50-thorn design to life, inspired by the religious iconography and symbolising perseverance and humility - a tribute to Kendrick's cultural influence. "Kendrick Lamar represents the artistry, risk-taking creativity and relentless innovation that has also defined Tiffany & Co. for nearly two centuries,” says Alexandre Arnault. “We are proud and incredibly excited to work with a visionary like Kendrick in realising his vision for the crown.” See the crown in all its glory below.
