DINOSAUR DESIGNS PRESENTS MOSS

Dinosaur Designs is getting down to earth this season with the release of the new Moss collection. Inspired by the natural elements, shapes and colours of the ancient plant, the resin pieces take on magical patterns and forms in moss green and olive colours. The signature Dinosaur Designs resin swirls' dance across the pieces, which include organic vases, stacked bangles, legged bowls, wired jewellery and beaded hoops. "For Moss, we were particularly interested in the contrast between moss’s bold forms and its delicate nature, a characteristic that we found can also be attributed to our resin pieces which often reveal delicate swirls of pigment within strong silhouettes," Louise Olsen tells 10 Magazine Australia. "We always enjoy themes that let us use the man-made medium of resin to explore the natural world - it's an interesting juxtaposition."

Nature is often a source of inspiration for co-founders and creative directors Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, and this collection perfectly captures the grounded essence of Dinosaur Designs. While the plant, moss, holds different meanings across different cultures, it essentially symbolises renewal, resilience and the interconnectedness of all living things. "Our Moss collection is an opportunity to return to nature and reset," says Louise Olsen. "Inspired by Japanese moss gardens, we wanted to explore the landscapes of soft moss and rocky forms while also capturing the meditative atmosphere that often accompanies these spaces… crafting organic shapes cast in an earthy palette of greens, black and brown to achieve this."

If Moss were to move to the music, the collection's soundtrack would be Shabaka's 'Memories don't live like people do'. "Shabaka describes his work as a 'forest of music', layering woodwind instruments to create a magical soundtrack that brings with it a naturalistic and meditative atmosphere that is reminiscent of Moss collection's own inspiration." The Moss collection is available now.
