Today marks the official release of Dior’s new J’adore fragrance campaign featuring none other than the one and only Rihanna – a pop idol who dreamed of a life and transformed it into gold.

Following in the golden footsteps of Charlize Theron and Tiiu Kuik, Carmen Kass, the Barbados singer takes the reins as the ‘face’ of the legendary fragrance, originally created in 1999 by French master perfumer Calice Becker for Parfums Christian Dior. “J’adore is a unique fragrance. It is fresh and sexy at the same time. It is neither too spicy, nor too delicate nor too clean,” says Rihanna. “J’adore has an aura. It expresses a genuine “essence.”

Shot by Steven Klein at the awe-inspiring Palace of Versailles, the campaign film follows Rihanna as she swans around the historic palace like a goddess dripping in gold. Through the hall of mirrors and across the grand canal, she shimmers in a gilded gown by Maria Grazia Chiuri with the house’s necklace of a thousand pearls – inspired by J’adore’s tear-drop bottle shape designed by Hervé Van der Straeten – around her neck. Finishing the look with a quintessential spritz of J’adore, she embodies the spirit of the scent which is, above all else, an ode to women, their audacity and their beauty.

Speaking on how she feels when she wears J’adore, Rihanna comments, “Personally, I feel that perfume has so much power! It can give you self-confidence, awaken memories, and transport you to a different place. J’adore makes women feel that they can become who they really want to be, deep down inside. It’s magical!”

This encounter between pop superstar and iconic perfume is a true match made in golden heaven. J’adore holds a rather sentimental place in the ‘Love on the Brain’ singer’s heart, as she grew up with a close relationship to the fragrance. “I have always loved this perfume,” she recalls. “My mother worked in a perfume shop and she used to bring home the testers when they were almost empty. There was always a bottle of J’adore in the house.”

As the face of the perfume, specifically the new J’adore L’Or, an essential concentrate and perfume essence of solar and intense floral notes, orange blossom, jasmine grandiflorum and centifolia rose absolutes by master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, Rihanna shines as never seen before.
