HERMÈS: A LEGEND PASSES

|
Written By:

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we have learned of the passing of the Queen of Enchantment, Leïla Menchari. As the Artistic Director of the windows at 24 Faubourg Menchari worked with Hermès for almost 40 years, designing and producing their brilliant, epic windows at the Hermès flagship store in Paris. As she wrote in her book that we treasure at Ten Towers, Leila Menchari the Queen of Enchantment: "You need only look around you. Creation is already there, we merely interpret it, with more or less talent. Our role is to reveal the beauty, to emphasize its presence because it is everywhere, obvious or waiting to be discovered, precarious or immortal. Its forms are finite. It inhabits our senses, our hopes, our ability to dream. Beauty must be handed down like an inheritance. To bear witness to beauty is to engage in an absolute quest.” Her creation and vision around the designs that she featured in the windows were so wonderfully unique. We will remember Leïla's work at Hermès and her philosophy, which informs so much about Hermès.
