INSIDE THE NEW HERMÈS MELBOURNE STORE

|
Written By:

Run don't walk, the newly renovated Hermès Melbourne store has reopened. Designed by the Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the store which opened 10 years ago has been reworked into an Hermès wonderland. Sitting at the corner of Collins Street and Exhibition Street, the heritage-listed building's facade has been preserved, including it's arched windows.

Inside, Faubourg mosaic, Grecques lights and a woen patterned carpet inspired by the native Australian eucalyptus tree play out. It's a celebration of nature throughout the store, with leaf motifs, natural wood and lots of green to intentionally create a tropical rainforest feel. The Hermès women and men do love to get outdoors. Speaking of, the equestrian universe lie at the bottom of the stairs leading to the first floor where men's and women's ready-to-wear await. Artworks from Émile Hermès collection including the Portrait of the Scorpion Horse by the English painter Francis Sartorius can be found on the walls, and for the opening, French artist Hubert Crabières transformed the window scenography of the store into The Faubourg Enchantery. Enchanted!

In celebration of the reopening, English illustrator Jonathan Burton has designed a silk titled Hermès Parade, available exclusively at this store. And for the cherry on top, proceeds from the scarf go to Visionary Images, a local non-profit organisation, dedicated to encouraging young people experiencing hardships to express themselves through art.
