LOUIS VUITTON AT THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Written By:

It was the ultimate unboxing. The Louis Vuitton official Trophy Trunk arrived centre court for the women’s final in Melbourne, presented by Dan Carter. It deserved to be well looked after as it has a top pedigree: hand-crafted by experienced Louis Vuitton artisans in the House’s workshops in Asnières; a wooden frame covered in iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas finished with a classic lozine leather trim; brass corner protectors, lock and clasps that have been used on Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1860s.

Cleverly the trunks’ front panels fold back to reveal the trophy inside, and are painted with a striking white V – for “Victory “and “Vuitton”. And of course, the case is lined with the signature blue court surface hue and finished with a white AO on the underside of the lid. Details, details. The final was phenomenal - a battle between to fiercely talented players.

We loved it; we toasted the winner Madison Keys as she hefted the super heavy solid silver Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup aloft. The following, and final night, Louis Vuitton Friend of House Phoebe Dynevor flew in from LA to present the men’s trophy. Champagne, hot chips, great game and good Louis Vuitton. What more could we want?
