MAX MARA: SS25

|
Written By:

This season Max Mara came to school us on the magic of science. Think the law of attraction, lab coats and clever women in history, specifically the Neoplatonist philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician, Hypatia. Taking inspiration from her equations developed from Pythagoras and proposed elliptical orbits as a result of her study of conic sections, Ian Griffiths got down to studying the nitty gritty mathematics of dressmaking, featuring exterior stitching to mimic arrows, asymmetric origami-like clusters on shoulders and hips, and columnar knits sliced to show skin. All developed through intricate equations.

Copper oxide browns brought the classic Max Mara feel, silver nitrate gleamed and the last few looks featured crisp white tailoring, meant to mimic lab coats. It was a mathematically plotted collection of perfect cuts and pieces for the Max Mara woman’s summer wardrobe. Classic, clever, cool.
