CHRISTOPHER ESBER: SS25

Written By:

Christopher Esber was on cloud nine this season. Following his ANDAM prize win this year, he was feeling inspired by a newfound ethereal lightness, taking his usual for-the-nighttime slinky dresses and infusing them with a light, flowy bounce. It was an exploration of volume through under and night garments, going back through the decades and taking the best bits for a modern wardrobe. From 1950s camisole, lined with lace, to fine ostrich feathers hand-beaded to a fine organza lattice, lightly oscillating back and forth to create a surreal sight, grounded in moments of softly tailored black linen. Esber’s now-signature metal hardware, that create intricate patterns around the abs were in full force, and sure to go viral yet again.

It was super soft and pared back, right down to the skin and makeup by 10 contributor Filomena Natoli who spoke to us backstage about using Biologique Recherché to create the look: “The word that Chris kept saying to me was cloud: we wanted everything to be cloud-like. We wanted to reflect that in the skin. In the past we’ve always done super shiny, hot-girl skin. This year we’ve taken a softer approach and gone for something quite blurred, soft as a cloud with a velvety finish,” she said, solidifying the evolution this season. “The main hero for me is the Royal Complex, a finishing serum that I use over the top of the Hydravit Moisturiser. It’s super simple, it's the perfect skin care sandwich.”

The Esber girl is in full escapist mode this season, head in the clouds and dreaming of the dualities of past and present.
