BALENCIAGA: PRE-FALL 2024

"Everybody comes to Hollywood, they want to make it in the neighbourhood," Madonna once sang. "How could it hurt you when it looks so good?" Balenciaga brought all of Los Angeles (and their inner goths, too) to Hancock Park over the weekend. On a palm tree-lined street in the heart of LA, Demna's interpretation of the city of angels stomped down the street. The LA girl - or guy - according to Demna, is ready for action every day, dressed in yoga-wear, sweatpants with undergarments peeking out the top, bra tops, batwing-shaped eyewear from the new 'Malibu' line and croc-embossed 'Rodeo' handbags by their side.

The collection was  Y2K-coded, with velour tracksuits coming in the juiciest, hot pinks, knee-high Alaska boots faintly resembling the inescapable UGG, and sneakers as Balenciaga-big as ever titled the '10XL' (available now). They carried their Erewhon shopping bags and charcoal water - a Hollywood health girly staple - in mini dresses, paparazzi-protected hooded jackets with integrated scarves, and oversized jackets paired with outdoor hotel slippers.

Demna has created the ultimate wardrobe for a Los Angeles celebrity in 2024. Day went into night for the red carpet evening wear series: red-hot velvet gowns were asymmetric and slick to the body, black sequinned dresses were body-con, and the final fabulous white gown was made of heavy satin with a structured face shield. Quite simply, lifestyles of the rich and the famous.
