COMME DES GARÇONS' FIRST-EVER HANDBAG
Comme des Garçons is establishing itself in the heavenly world of handbags, releasing the inaugural design of its first-ever bag collection at its CDG Paris store today, located at 56, Rue Du Faubourg St. Honoré. Although the luxury label has collaborated with other brands such as Porter and Gucci on bags in the past and has had sporadic singular bag drops, this launch is particularly significant as it is CDG founder Rei Kawakubo’s first foray into developing a whole handbag collection. Boasting the highest quality leather and manufacturing known within the fashion industry, the luxury offering has aptly been named Made In Italy. Coming in a chic black colourway with a boxy, structured silhouette and short, rounded handle made from 100 per cent leather, the offering includes both a small and medium sized bag.
Today’s release marks the first time the perfectly preened pouches have been seen outside of Japan, with a wider roll-out kicking off on April 17, where they will be available on the shelves of Dover Street Market and CDG stores worldwide. This unveiling will also mark the release of new items from CDG and its subsidiaries, which will also be available for customers to purchase in stores across the globe.
