Eckhaus Latta: AW25

Eckhaus Latta isn’t interested in fantasy; its designs reflect real lives and real people. With this in mind, Zoe Latta and Mike Eckhaus ventured into a more deliberate, thoughtful approach to design for AW25. Gone were the chaotic bursts of experimentation – this season, their focus was on creating essential, wearable pieces that still carried their signature depth.

The collection itself was direct and unfussy, but never boring. Think cargo trousers with rounded, almost comically practical zip pockets; skirts that seemed to come apart at the seams in a way that felt intentional; tailoring that sat just on the right side of undone. No irony, no detachment – just real, sharp, no-nonsense design.

But the clothes were only part of the message. The press release referenced Rhonda Lieberman’s 1992 Artforum essay The Loser Thing and artist Sean Landers’s desperate, all-caps letters to his student loan officer. The urgent, unvarnished sentiment underscored the collection’s ethos: anti-snobbishness, reality, honesty. “OF COURSE THINGS CAN BE BEAUTIFUL!!” it read. “DON’T PRETEND TO HAVE EMOTIONS YOU DON’T HAVE… STOP LYING.”

Eckhaus Latta has always operated outside the fashion system, but this felt like their clearest statement yet. No theatrics, no pretence – just clothes that understand where we are right now. And, let’s be honest, that’s exactly what we need.
