Meet the new kid on the block a sporty techy superstar flexing its muscles every kilometre of the highway. Yes, we love the new Range Rover Velar. It is, in short, the business. We were lucky enough to road test it for three weeks and so we put it through its paces and it never failed to impress – everyone who travelled with us.

From the 20 positional heated and cooled massage memory seats - which going between Sydney and Bowral lightened the journey - to the ‘follow me home’ lighting (Range Rover terminology) it was an action-packed drive -  always.

With its 294W @5,000rpm the mighty engine gives a roaring throaty start first thing and so we powered to the speed limit and felt the fringes of the max speed of 250km/h. We flew down the highways in this sleek Hakuba silvery machine with its dapple grey interior made from recycled materials. The retractable door handles are a small detailed heavenly highlight as is the entire driver’s assistance functionality and we loved the privacy windows and powertrain dynamics.

We fleetingly had a vintage 1980s Range Rover once that was spartan in comparison to this lap of luxury. The Range Rover Velar is R-Dynamic – R for revved up road trip. Bucket list worthy.
